          Trusted Pool Contractor

In-Ground Pool Installation – 9 Steps to Building a Proper Pool

In the United States, there are about 10.4 million residential swimming pools. When it comes to adding excitement to a basic backyard, nothing can match a professionally installed in-ground swimming pool. It completely revamps the ambiance and creates a perfect place for the family to spend time together.

If you are interested in investing in an in-ground pool, but you have little idea about how the installation process works or how to build an inground pool, you’ve come to the right place. Since we have plenty of experience working with commercial and residential pool designs, we prepared a simple guideline for inground pool installation that will show you the ropes. Here are all the important steps professionals are using to make the ideal in-ground pool.

          In-Ground Pool Installation Process

Compared to above-ground pools, in-ground pools add additional resale value to a property and are permanent fixtures. When professionals install the pool, the backyard will turn into a huge construction area for the length of installation. It can take anywhere from around 2 to 3 months to finish the entire pool project. The steps below will help you visualize the inground pool installation process.

Step 1: Creating a Layout in the Backyard

After you’ve applied for a permit and signed the contract, you can start building the pool. Depending on the size, shape, position, and location of the pool, the contractor will spend a few hours staking out the desired layout. They will identify the irrigation lines, plumbing, wires, and other obstacles above and below ground.

          Step 2: Excavation

Workers will start digging the marked area. They will remove rocks or dirt to create a suitable pit. At this stage, the pool will finally take shape.

          Step 3: Installing Internal Plumbing

Internal plumbing is one of the perks of having an in-ground swimming pool. They are used for heating and filtration, which creates a more comfortable environment. The installation can take 1 to 2 days, depending on the size of the in-ground pool.

          Step 4: Installing Rebar

Every in-ground pool needs a stable and durable framework. This steel skeleton gives it all the stability it needs. Workers will add horizontal and vertical bars and hammer them inside the ground. This will also take another 1 to 2 days.

Step 5: Adding Electrical Lines and Extras

For an in-ground pool with extra features, adding gas, water, and electrical lines are a must. They take the pool area to a whole new level and allow you to enjoy a barbecue or a fire pit near the pool.

          Step 6: Using Concrete

The structural steel will need concrete to hold everything in place. This process can take 5 to 6 days, during which workers will water the area a couple of times a day.

Step 7: Adding Tiles and Decorations

At this stage, workers will apply tiles to the pool area. If the pool also needs waterfalls or slides, they will install them as well. If it requires multiple installations, the process can last 5 to 7 days.

          Step 8: Installing Decking

Decking is another key component. The type of decking you select will greatly impact the pool cost and final look of the pool.

Step 9: Adding the Finishing Touches

Now it is time for a huge cleanup. The pool needs to be spotless before you can use it. When the cleanup is done, you can fill the pool with water.

That’s it! The inground pool installation process is now complete. Still have questions or are interested in professional pool installation? Reach out to Hilltop Pools at our website or call us at 770-471-3889.
