It’s almost summertime, which means it’s almost pool season! Pool season is one of the best times of the year, when you can spend time in the sun with friends and family, barbecuing outside and basking in the warm sun. If you are considering installing a pool in your backyard, you may be thinking only about the above—the fun that you’ll have with your friends and family in your new pool. But, one of the most important things you’ll need to consider while building your new pool is what size pool you’ll need. Here are just a few tips to consider what size pool you’ll want for your soon-to-be new and improved backyard.
How much room do you have in your backyard?
The first thing you’ll need to consider is how much room you have in your backyard for a pool. If you have a small backyard, you may not have much room for a pool, so you’ll have to decide whether you want just a pool in your backyard, or whether you need room for a barbecue, a trampoline, or other things for your children. If you have a large backyard, you should consider how much of it you want to devote to a pool, and consider a size and shape to fit in the space you’ll allot.
Will you plan on doing laps?
If you want a lap pool, you’ll have to plan on a lot more space for your pool, so you’ll want to decide early if you plan on using your pool for exercise as well. There are a few different ways to create a lap pool, so be sure to contact your contractor as to whether a shorter lap pool, or something that fits into an unusual sized backyard is possible.
How much room around the pool do you need?
Another thing you’ll want to consider is how much room you need around the pool. If you have a small backyard and want a lap pool, you’ll have to be okay with not much room for anything else in your backyard. But, if you would like a barbecue area, or even a sitting area, you’ll have to consider a smaller pool to make room for whatever else you’d like to include in the backyard. If you have a weird-shaped backyard, maybe consider working the pool into a corner so that you can have more room for other things.
Do you have a big family?
Lastly, you'll want to consider how many people will be enjoying your pool. Do you have a few kids? Will they want to bring friends over to play in your backyard? Do you have a lot of family in town that tend to use your home as a base for parties? You may want to consider installing a much bigger pool to accommodate these things. You can't simply expand a pool later, so better to make a bigger pool now, than wish you had later. And, if you have a lot of kids, you might anticipate having a few grand kids that would appreciate a bigger pool. And maybe even one with a slide.
After considering a few different questions, you may still be uncertain what size pool you would like in your backyard. In this case, be sure to contact your local pool companies in Cumming
